👋🏽Hey There, I’m Tara Sophia —

 Founder, T1D Mom, Detroit Born And Raised Certified Citrus Herbalist, Rooted Life Creator & Mantra Meditation Teacher.

Seven years ago, I was searching for a deeper meaning to my life, which brought me back to my roots. After drifting far from the teachings of my maternal and paternal grandmothers, I found myself being pulled back toward the healing powers of citrus fruits, berries, and herbs — the same remedies I grew up learning from them. That season became a powerful turning point in my life.

During that time, my son was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes during a Christmas trip visiting family back in Detroit — that moment reshaped our entire household and changed our lives, deepening my commitment to living intentionally, naturally, and holistically. I leaned fully into what grandmother's left in me during those very emotional times to trust the earth, trust my lineage, and trust the wisdom passed down to me - because my sons life depended on it & my health had taken a toll for the worse from all the stress of navigating in a space I didn't have any time to prepare for. 

It first started with me just making smoothies, juices and shakes to rebuild my immune system and help my son to regulate his blood sugars naturally. From there, I realized there was something more I could do with all the left over citrus fruit, berries and herbs from making juices, smoothies and shakes. Instead of just throwing everything out as waste (something my grandmother's taught me growing up to take what's left and put it to use) - I began using it all to make soaps, then body butters, then lip balms which grew into this shop you're seeing today.

I dedicated myself to the craft, early on earning credentials in holistic health education, life coaching restorative‑yin yoga, herbal product formulation and meditation. Citrus N Berri is the culmination of that entire journey which led me here — a natural care shop built on lineage, intention, earth‑based wisdom and trust.

Every product here is formulated, handmade, cured, cut, and packaged by me. But Citrus N Berri is more than an apothecary‑styled shop — it’s a space devoted to the lifestyle I actively live every day: Rooted Intentional Living. Here, I bridge nature and self‑care through holistic health, wellness, and herbal teachings backed by evidence‑based research woven into everything that happens inside Citrus N Berri.

This space is a sanctuary shop for those who choose intentional, natural living over the fast‑paced industrial mainstream world.

It’s more than a business — it’s the rebirth of a family legacy passed down, created to keep citrus, berry, and herb‑infused care alive for generations to come.
